You may not have heard of the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC), but you’ve probably experienced it firsthand. A subsidiary of Chinese automaker, Geely, the business is responsible for all the electric black cabs driving around London every single day. We were pretty excited when the team came to us asking for help with the launch of a new footprint on top of which practically any vehicle could be built. It sounded simple enough, LEVC wanted a live product launch to 150 press here in the UK, combined with a livestream to over 20,000 back in China. Then we heard the deadline. There was just two weeks to get the whole thing together.
Our team sprung off the starting line and got to work building an unforgettable event. We settled a venue – the business’ Coventry headquarters – and after a good look around we came up with a plan to bring plenty of life to the factory setting. That included installing an enormous 3x10m LED screen, a purpose-built stage (with a hero platform for the new product), and plenty of clever work with bold lighting.
We pulled speakers together, planned the running order down to the last second, got all the tech ready for a smooth livestream and sourced some skilled translators. We even took care of the catering. When the event day rolled round, everything was in place for a next-level product launch. And that’s exactly what we delivered.
Overcoming cultural challenges was a huge part of this project as we needed to please stakeholders, and audiences, both here in the UK and in China. On the day, that meant co-ordinating live translation for one talk in the room, and several more on the livestream. But throughout the journey to our winning event, it meant being conscious of differing expectations and requirements. According to LEVC, we smashed it!
Production was slick and it didn’t go unnoticed. Our audience was wowed, the client even more so. And with a couple of post-event edits helping everyone to remember the day long after it was over, the launch is still getting attention today.
