With a new CEO and a brand-new company purpose to shout from the rafters, Nationwide needed an event that would align its business and educate its leaders. They, after all, were the people who would spread this new ‘Blueprint’ messaging through all Nationwide’s regional hubs. We set out to put them, and the business’ four new pillars, at the heart of an unforgettable day and evening awards ceremony. And we had just four weeks to do it.
Our Creative team got to work fast, drawing out the core of Nationwide’s new blueprint and planning activations that would help attendees put big concepts into action. As soon as our 1,000 delegates arrived at the seamlessly branded space in Birmingham’s NEC, they were met with a custom lanyard. No big deal, you might think. But with just lanyards we set the tone for the whole event from the very first minute as not only did they have all the usual info, but custom bios tying each attendee to customer profiles and the company personas they’d come to learn more about. Everyone carried a customer with them for the whole day.
As they headed over to the plenary stage, delegates were instantly engaged with a bold video made by our Film team. This was followed up key sessions all finessed and planned to the last minute by our live event experts. These were far from your usual single speaker and ever so slightly bored audience breakouts. We had a session with a maze for leaders to navigate, a sports-themed talk taking place on a basketball court, facilitated discussion with handy tablets and mics, a session that opened with an eerie soundscape and another that got the audience to vote with their feet by heading to different sections of coloured flooring. There was a lot going on here!
Finally, we closed out the event with an awards ceremony, where 270 specially selected delegates were invited to let their hair down and celebrate their achievements. For that extra punch, we opted for a circus theme (complete with bumper cars!). Attendees couldn’t get enough of it! And it wasn’t just the fun of the circus stakeholders raved about – the event was a huge success. Leadership even said it was the easiest event they’ve done, thanks to our professionalism and expertise. Now we’re blushing!
