To toast Amazon's 25 years in the UK in style, we were asked to deliver an internal all-colleague event for the UK & Ireland Amazon, blending in-person and virtual celebrations for a workforce of up to 31,000 people. With our champagne flutes and party poppers at the ready, we took charge of the end-to-end event delivery, from creative concepts, to event management, technical and even content production.
The Truman Brewery in London proved to be the perfect setting, accommodating 500 attendees in person with the rest joining virtually. Embracing a vibrant nineties, noughties and now theme, the event unfolded seamlessly, starting with registration and a fast-paced seated show hosted by iconic TV presenter Rylan Clark, accessible via a photo tunnel that showcased the company’s rich history in the UK and followed by an after-party in the Amazon Live Lounge for in-person attendees. Plus, you’ll be happy to know that there was no neon spandex involved!
During the event, a captivating lineup of 10 presenters shared the latest innovations and business updates, including successes across various business lines and insights from Amazon-owned entity, IMDb. Noteworthy segments included exciting announcements from AWS and discussions on Amazon’s D&I and sustainability initiatives such as Comic Relief, underscoring Amazon's commitment as a key partner.
Interactivity was key, with Rylan engaging the audience in a lively Q&A session before transitioning to 'The Live Lounge' after-party. Here, attendees enjoyed street food, drinks, retro arcade games, and a meet-and-greet with Rylan.
On top of all this good stuff, we also handled production aspects such as animation and filming for post-event legacy pieces, and made sure presenters looked their best and felt comfortable and confident during their segments. The result was a fast-paced, electrifying event that fused show-stopping entertainment with strategic messaging, creating an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression on attendees.
All of this hard work definitely paid off, as Amazon was thrilled with the results! As well as 500 live attendees, a whopping 7,224 people tuned in online, either watching live or on-demand.
Plus, we circulated a feedback survey where we found respondents were equally positive with an 86% satisfaction rate. 80% also agreed that the event was informative and that it helped them understand the latest news and developments, while 74% said they felt inspired.
The party didn’t stop at the end of the day, however. In fact, on-demand video content views have increased by 123%, and unique page views of content created for the UK&I event such as intranet articles and teaser videos have totalled 22,000 - a 270% increase compared to the year previous. Wowza!
