On 12th July 2023, we were awarded the David Hackett Award for Outstanding Achievement due to our support of Meeting Needs. Meeting Needs is a leading charity in the meeting and events industry. It was founded by leading figures in the UK conference and event industry, bringing together venues, agencies, and suppliers to raise funds and change lives.
By raising money through fundraising initiatives and their sponsors, Meeting Needs can provide support for small tangible projects and initiatives that may not otherwise have access or would be granted funding. These projects have a direct impact on the quality of life for individuals and communities worldwide. Here at DRPG, we’ve been supporting Meeting Needs for more than 20 years, and we’re so honoured to receive the David Hackett Award for Outstanding Achievement. Below are just a few highlights of the kind of fundraising we’ve been involved with over the years for Meeting Needs and here’s to many more!
The Great Rickshaw Rally
For our 35th anniversary, we were committed to delivering 35 CSR projects to support national and local worthy causes. One of these was The Great Rickshaw Rally. 12 team members pedalled from the DRPG Covent Garden office to our studios in the Midlands using nothing but pedal power on a rickshaw bike we restored ourselves.
Ergo Challenge
Shortly after The Great Rickshaw Rally, our Construction, Warehouse, and Print teams took on the challenge to row 24 hours non-stop. Rowing more than 1,000,000 metres, it was quite the challenge but thanks to the strength and endurance of those who participated, we were able to make sure anything’s possible! Our rickshaw and ergo efforts raised £10,000 in total for Meeting Needs. We’re sure those who took part had a nice sit down afterward!
Royal Parks Half Marathon
Taking place in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks within four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St. James’ Park, and Kensington Gardens, a few of our team members embarked on the 13.1 Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2021. 40 representatives from the industry, including a few DRPG team members, helped to raise a total of £29,000, a fantastic milestone that pushed Meeting Needs over the £100,000 mark for total money raised in five years.
RideLondon
Our CEO Dale Parmenter took to the streets of London along with other heads of the industry to raise donations for Meeting Needs. Ride London is an annual cycling festival that consists of a series of cycling events around London and Essex. Intended as an annual legacy of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, we thought it was a great way to raise money for such a good cause.
