Dale Parmenter, MD of the drpgroup was a key speaker at the annual Institute of Internal Communicationsconference, held in Bristol recently. The presentation focussed on digital communications solutions and how they can be incorporated into the communications mix. Dale covered Hybrid Events, web integration, streaming over multiple sites, digital as a tool for measuring ROI and augmented reality.
The drpteam were on hand to assist in delivering a live augmented reality demonstration via iPads to delegates. Dale also involved the rapidly advancing iPad technology into his presentation, incorporating a live survey into the talk via the tablets. The survey was run at the beginning and end of the presentation demonstrating a tangible shift in the audience’s understanding of the topics Dale was covering.
The presentation was enthusiastically received and spawned a lively debate both in the room and on Twitter under the hashtag #ioicbristol13 with the cost of AR and holographic technology widely discussed. Dale commented “as with all technological advances in our field, the cost when the technology first appears is quite high but it doesn’t take long for it to start plummeting and become a really affordable tool for comms professionals. The other great thing about digital solutions for comms is that the initial investment is all that’s required. Once a website is built, an app developed or an AR presentation created, it is there for multiple uses without continued re-investment and minimal maintenance.”
The event brings together leading internal communications professionals from a wide range of industries to learn, share ideas and keep abreast of the latest developments in communications tools, strategy and best practice. Dale’s presentation was one of the conference highlights with delegates leaving enthused with the digital potential of communications.
