One of the most important and on-going issues facing our industry today is the hiring and development of new talent. Ensuring that the drpgroup attracts and nurtures the very best young individuals looking to start a career in communications is vital to our future. To add to our growing business weve now successfully turned two of our apprenticeship / graduate roles into full time employment this year. At the moment, the drpgroup have two apprenticeships placements running; one in drpdigitalmedia and the other in drpdesign&print. The group has a long history of supporting apprentices as three of our board of directors began their careers as part of the Youth Training Scheme with the drpgroup. Since working with the Careers and Employment centre and adopting their new apprenticeship schemes, we have built strong relationships with local colleges and universities giving young people the opportunity to gain new skills and training from all disciplines within our business.
Amy Poyner, digital production manager at the drpgroup is based in our Midlands facilities and joined the company last year after completing her graduate scheme placement; she was also shortlisted at this years Wolverhampton Business Achievement Awards in the apprenticeship category. She commented on her journey through the scheme saying, from my first impression of drpgroup, when I came for my interview I knew what a great opportunity it would be and was thrilled just to be considered. The drpgroup create an atmosphere that really makes you care about what you do and I am proud to be a part of such an amazing and award winning company. The faith which the drpgroup put in new employees and in particular in their apprentices, has given me the confidence in myself and my abilities to strive for the best, and the motivation to continually improve my skills. I would definitely recommend any young people out there to grab the opportunities of apprenticeship schemes, as it really does help to develop you as a person and your career.
Helene Turley, employer engagement manager at the Careers & Employment Centre said the following The Graduate Advantage Scheme supported by the University of Wolverhampton offers employers flexible access to a talented, motivated and ambitious workforce; and the chance to test, perhaps for the first time, the advantages of employing graduates. At the same time, it enables graduates to gain valuable skills and experience in preparation for long term employment. We are very pleased that drpdigitalmediadecided to use this service and have now found a permanent employee in Amy who is a recent graduate from the University of Wolverhampton. The drpgroup intends to offer more places via the scheme and hopefully it will lead to us adding even more talent to our ever-growing team.
