drp Host Second Digital Open Day for Worcester University
On Thursday 1st February 2018, we saw over 30 students from the Advanced Web Development Course at Worcester University visit our 212 Midlands HQ studios. Following the success of the first tour last year which took place in January, we have expanded and tailored the tour to show what working-life is like in a creative agency.
Like the previous year, students were taken on a full tour of our 4.2-acre complex, where they were shown in more detail our digital facilities, including the ‘digilab’ testing area, plus given a chance to meet the team and ask any questions or advice. With many of the drpdigital team joining directly from university, and Worcester University itself, a handful of team members presented their own experiences and career paths to break into the industry, thus providing valuable guidance for the students who are mostly nearing the beginning of their careers.
The University of Worcester prides itself on having close ties to businesses within the local community and providing our students with real-world experiences within the workplace.
Ben Wallace, Director of drpdigital, commented: “The Worcester University day proved to be an astounding success last year, so it was only right we carried this on. To see and hear from people who have recently been in their shoes and to be provided with valuable advice is a great experience for the students and is something myself and the team are extremely proud of. We look forward to carrying this on in 2019 and even further…”
Sean Preston, Associate Lecturer in Web Development at University of Worcester, commented: "The University of Worcester prides itself on having close ties to businesses within the local community and providing our students with real-world experiences within the workplace. One such relationship is with drp, the largest digital agency in the West Midlands. This relationship has provided our students with the ability to not only see how a large successful technology company operates but has also provided many of our esteemed alumni with careers upon leaving us here at the university. We believe our students should graduate with not only an academic education but also the practical tools necessary to be successful in their career, it is for this reason that we build relationships with businesses like drp to be able to provide a well rounded and professional education."
