drp Host Film Production Masterclass for Media Trust

We recently partnered with Media Trust, to hold a film-focused masterclass at our West Midlands HQ studios. On Friday 29th June 2018, fourteen young adults aged 18-25 were able to experience all aspects of a career in corporate film production.

Our film team were on-hand to demonstrate their areas of expertise in creative development and scripting, production management, location filming and sound, editing and motion graphics, and provide support, allowing the young adults to experience all stages of production first-hand.

Once the group had learnt the basics, they were split into two and given a challenge to create a short news story that could be distributed via social media. They were tasked to undertake research into a current topical issue, write the content, delegate the responsibilities required, film the story and finish with the final edit. Once complete, both stories were presented to all in the cinema room.

The work of the Media Trust is invaluable for our industry. It emphasises the significance of media in our world today, opens doors to new talent, and allows otherwise silent voices to be heard.

Media Trust is a communications charity that believes in the power of media to change lives. Its goal is to inspire the media and communications industry to share their time, knowledge and creativity to benefit charities, communities and young people. By connecting skilled professionals from across the creative and media industry with charitable organisations, who need valuable mentoring, training and content creation, they make a huge difference to so many people across the UK.

Dagmar Mackett, Director of Video, commented, “The work of the Media Trust is invaluable for our industry. It emphasises the significance of media in our world today, opens doors to new talent, and allows otherwise silent voices to be heard. Everybody in the team is immensely proud to have been able to support this great cause – and we’ll continue to do so.”
