drp Commended at Excellence in Community Awards
Dale Parmenter, Group CEO of drp was presented with the business support award and Ian Hough, drp set construction technician received the Chief Officer Commendation at the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) Excellence in the Community Awards on Wednesday 4th November. The awards were presented by Sir. Graham Meldrum; chair of WMAS NHS Foundation Trust, for drp's support in producing the short film Pull Through and Ian's bravery throughout.
The awards held at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill were created to recognise the continued efforts and support from businesses and members of the public across the West Midlands who “have gone beyond the call of duty to help save lives and support the work of West Midlands Ambulance Service’s 4,500 staff.” The event also commended the work of voluntary organisations, St. John’s ambulance and community first responders across the region.
drpvideo collaborated with West Midlands Ambulance service to produce and shoot the seven-and-a-half minute reconstruction film; Pull Through based on the real life event of Ian Hough. The film shot at Stourport Boat Club re-created the moment that Ian suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday 13th August 2011 during the annual Stourport Regatta and the importance of the defibrillator on site that saved his life. The short film was created as part of drp’s promise to deliver 35 CSR projects in their 35th anniversary year.
Dale Parmenter commented “It’s fantastic to be a part of a ceremony that not only commends the hard work and support of the public and volunteers but of the West Midlands Ambulance Service’s 4,500 staff themselves. ‘Pull Through’ is such a poignant film that will raise awareness and ultimately save lives”
