As part of the DRPG Academy’s local education programmes, we have once again been sharing our creative expertise through initiatives with local universities to help creative students learn their future craft and careers.
First up, we dispatched our head of design, David Withers, over to one of our partners, the University of Wolverhampton to meet and inspire the creative media students. As a part of their curriculum we set them a real life brief to build and develop their skills and get used to working with clients. We returned and provided an interim critique and then went back for final judging!
Next up we partnered with the University of Worcester for an exciting creative competition. Design students were briefed by David to help them create redesigns for their creative building on the Worcester city campus. The uninspiring building is due a full rebrand and the budding creatives who are studying there have been given their chance to form part of the redesign. David returned to the University to judge the entries and the four winners were announced.
They’ll now work with us to mould their work into an enormous project that will result in DRPG completely rebranding the Media Centre on campus. Keep your eyes peeled next year to follow their progress as they make their designs come to life.
Our head of learning and development commented, “It is so important in our industry to nurture and encourage fresh talent in the younger creatives and it is great to be able to form part of their education. Being a part of these initiatives gives us the opportunity to share our industry knowledge as well as spotting some real talent for the future. Our aim is to give students some hands on experience and teach them about working with clients and on real life briefs.”
